Patrick Dougherty builds like a bird; he bends sticks

CBS Sunday Morning turned me on to Patrick Dougherty’s giant stick sculptures.  Dougherty builds architecture at it’s most basic,  native-looking stick houses, mazes, and playgrounds.  If the little pig who built his house out of sticks made something this beautiful, the Big Bad Wolf wouldn’t dare blow it down. I am a frequent visitor to North Carolina, so I’ll be sure to visit the North Carolina Botanical Garden in Chapel Hill to see his creation. Dougherty’s buildings last for only about two years. I better move it up on my list of must-see iconic architecture.  For me, this a twofer — a garden sculpture and architecture for one admission price!
